Personality: Kaoru, because of his responsibilities in life, has always been very take charge. He doesn't like to slack off too often. Even if he is reluctant to do something, he will do what needs doing. Likewise, if one is stalling on doing something they should be doing, he won't hesitate to tell you off.
Apart from his own independent actions, Kaoru is known to be kind of a pushover. He puts on such a strong face that lots of people don't bother him, but a good amount of them discover that he is weak to others [especially men]. Those who come onto him forcefully and sure of themselves, he can be easily intimidated. He may, on occasion, try to play off indifference, but inside he is probably going to pee his pants. //shot
Regarding his sexuality, Kaoru is newly gay. So he doesn't like to openly express his feelings for another, and absolutely won't know what to do if another declares their feelings for him. He gets very uncomfortable in any position involving serious loving...

Background Info: As a child, Kaoru was a very boring subject. I have to say, there's nothing fun or tragic to tell. His family was way too normal. In high school, he was the class president. He was always preoccupied with classroom things to be in any kind of relationship. Much to the liking of the school, he brought many female attention to be in the Student Council. However, he rejected every one of them because he never felt anything for it.
His sister, who was then in college, paid a visit to him one day with her good friend. Both happened to be yaoi fangirls. He never understood their love for it, but he did admire his sister for being so open about it. Every day they were visiting, his sister would take him out to lunch with her friend. She and her friend spent most of the time awwing over his cute appearance, so he mostly ate quietly and looked out the window during these lunch dates.
As fate would have it, Kaoru would watch couples who passed by. One good evening, a handsome man was standing in front of the window they were sitting by, looking lost. Kaoru couldn't help but stare as a light blush ran over his cheeks. Immediately, his sister and her friend burst up from the table and smothered him in hugs.
"OMG ARE YOU LOOKING AT THAT HOT GUY?"
"KAORU, BABY BROTHER... ARE YOU...... INTO THAT KIND OF STUFF?!"
Kaoru snapped out of it and looked at them defensively, now a deep red. "Wh-What? No way, don't joke!"
The girls looked at one another. "KYAA!! NO WAY, KAORU ROLLS THAT WAY! HURRAY!!"
The following evening, his sister and her friend- on their final night there- shuffled into his room. Her friend settled on his floor, and his sister plopped down on the bed beside him. He was clicking away at his laptop, trying to ignore them. She sighed heavily and he looked to her. "Yes?"
"Oh, Kaoru!" she sighed, lifting a wrist to her forehead. "I love you so much!! I found a cafe that I just LOVE to go to, but I don't like any of the waiters there. It's no fair to me and my friend."
Her friend nodded. She continued, holding up a handwritten contract. "To prove how much you love me, I want you to sign this contract saying you'll work there for at least one year. It works perfectly because you're fresh out of school!"
He looked suspicuously from her to her friend, but she was his only sister. Of course he loved her. Not knowing what he was getting into, he signed the contract.
The next day, before leaving for the airport, she and her friend dropped him off at his new job. Standing in front of the door, he gulped. She giggled and nodded. He reached for the handle, but the handsome man from the other day opened it before he could get there. "Welcome, young sir."
When he looked up, he gasped and looked back. But his sister and her friend were long gone. He looked back and stood up straight. "I'm here... to work for the Kitty-CanCan-Cafe."

Kaoru doesn't like the sun for one pure reason- his usual work hard, "can do" attitude never fails to deteriorate entirely as soon as he steps into the sun. The rays of a warm day bring out the cat in him, and he can't be bothered to do ANYTHING.

A lot of the shirts are loose on him because freshman year, he made the mistake of wearing a sweater from his grandmother which, of course, didn't fit. From then on, most girls who admired him gave him oversized sweaters as gifts because they liked the look on him.

He's not one to reject gifts. They all get put to good use.

Overly energetic puppies make him happy.. to watch. He gets tired when talking to them, though, because they're so energetic! So please don't be offended if he yawns while talking to you, puppy~

He has a soft spot for plushies, but he'd never admit it.... ever....
